The Scarlet Pagoda is a place in Twinford where the newest movies and most famous actors used to go back in the 1920s and the 1930s.

However, people stopped visiting it and over time it got faded and forgotten, so the people of Twinford organised the Twinford Film Festival, "A Date with Thrills", with raffles and prizes to restore this place. Ruby goes with her parents, eager to see all the costumes for all the B-movies. There she also meets Dirk Draylon, the man who plays Detective Despo in Crazy Cops.

The whole festival is in honour of Margo Bardem, who was extremely famous for her romantic thrillers, the first of which (The Cat That Got The Canary) was shot and aired in the Scarlet Pagoda, 21 years before the festival. Margo Bardem had been a hairdresser in the Pagoda before she was recognised and got her own chance in 1952.

In the costume show, everyone is confused because they have sudden feelings someone is passing by them. This made Red trip, made a model lose a pair of shoes, and prop number 53 was stolen.
